About Me

Leah Browne-Freeman, LPC Associate

Supervised by Nakia Roberson, M.Ed, LPC-S, CST.

Welcome!! I am a licensed professional counselor associate, Supervised by Nakia Roberson, M.Ed, LPC-S, CST. I have been an associate since 2023.

Work Experience

I have been a registered nurse in Texas since 2013, with experience in medical-surgical nursing, school nursing, and emergency room nursing. The majority of my career has been in the emergency room, where I’ve gained extensive experience working with diverse patient populations and diagnoses. I am drawn to the ER for its dynamic environment, emphasis on teamwork, and the opportunity to continually apply and refine my skills.

Since 2019, I have also worked as a nurse practitioner in an outpatient setting, managing acute illnesses. This role has allowed me to utilize my assessment skills through diagnosing, prescribing treatments, and ordering imaging and lab tests to provide comprehensive patient care.

School Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing (2013).
  • Master’s Degree in Science with a specialization in Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman’s University (2019).
  • Master’s Degree in Science with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Houston Victoria (2023).

Counseling Experience & Interests

  • I have been working as an LPC associate in private practice since 2023.
  • Interest in A LOT of topics and diagnoses; depression, anxiety, self-esteem & self-image, self-care, burnout, trauma and PTSD
  • Enjoy working with all people and walks of life, especially first responders, and healthcare workers, in addition to those who may feel burnt out and dismissed from the healthcare system.

Hobbies & Fun Facts about Me

  • I was born and raised in Houston (my husband is also!).
  • I have 2 miniature dachshunds named Ted and Maxine.
  • I have been vegan since 2016 (however I will dabble into vegetarian often).
  • I enjoy gardening and am a plant mom.

I have been working as a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner in the emergency room since 2013. I will provide a welcoming, non judgemental, unbiased safe space for you to just be, while I support and listen to you. We will take life one step at a time, one day at a time.

I earned my first master’s degree in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2019 from Texas Woman’s University in Houston. I worked in an outpatient clinic for a large hospital organization. When the pandemic hit, I decided to return back to school in 2021, and in 2023, I completed my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston-Victoria.

I pull techniques from several theories but primarily work from a solution-focused and reality/choice therapy, positive psychology viewpoint. I have been ART (accelerated resolution therapy) trained as of 3/2024, and offer this both in person and virtual.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking and creating new vegetarian/vegan recipes with my husband, thrifting, playing with my dogs, spending time on my nintendo switch, spending time outside, and hermitting at home on the couch enjoying quiet time.

What I do: I provide both in-person and virtual counseling.
